So What Is Ayurveda All About....
An Ancient Holistic Healing Modality in the Art of Living

Ayurveda is the science of life. It explains the nature of everything in the universe, and it is the art of living in harmony with nature. The word Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words 'Ayu', meaning life, or more specifically, the life process, and 'Veda', meaning knowledge. So Ayurveda can be defined as the science of living that teaches us the knowledge of life and the process of living in harmony within ourselves and our environment. Ayurveda believes that when our bodies, minds, spirits and souls are healthy, we can then focus on our interconnectedness to the universe and evolving our Dharma also known as our Soul’s Purpose.

Ayurveda is based on the understanding that each individual is unique in mind, body, Spirit and Soul and that the elements that make up that of the cosmos, (Ether, Air, Fire, Water, Earth), are also found within each of us and expressed through us. In Ayurveda this unique combination and expression of elements within us is referred to as our Dosha Constitution.
Vata dosha is the Ayurvedic mind-body element associated with air and space. It’s light, cool, rough, dry, flowing and spacious in nature, and it governs all movement and processes in your mind and body—including processes like blood flow, elimination, breathing, and the movement of thoughts in your mind.
Pitta dosha is the Ayurvedic mind-body element associated with water and Earth. It's fiery, sharp, liquid, oily and mobile in nature. Pitta energies influence everything from your physical shape and digestion to the way you process thoughts and emotions. Its transformation
Kapha dosha is the Ayurvedic mind-body element associated with earth and water. It’s slow, moist, cool, oily, heavy, soft, stable and steady in nature and embodies structure, lubrication, and stability in the mind and body.
Each of us will have a unique combination of all three doshas within us. The balance of these three doshas at the moment of conception defines what Ayurveda calls one’s constitution, or “prakruti”. These doshas also fluctuate in accordance with how we live our lives and as they increase or decrease they cause different conditions in the body and mind. These imbalances are called “vikruti.” When these elements are in unbalanced, we experience disease and DIS-ease. However, when these elements are in balance we are rejuvenated, awakened, present, healthy with vitality. The goal of Ayurveda is to restore the proper balance to our dosha. This is accomplished by utilizing one’s senses properly and living a healthy lifestyle.
